Hulabee Entertainment Inc. was established in July 2001 by Shelley Day and Ron Gilbert, both of whom were previously instrumental in founding Humongous Entertainment. The studio gained early recognition through a partnership with Disney Interactive, which published their titles under the Plaid Banana Entertainment imprint. Notable milestones include the release of games such as "Mike's Monstrous Adventure," "Moop and Dreadly in the Treasure on Bing Bong Island," and "Ollo in the Sunny Valley Fair."

Key figures in the studio included co-founders Day and Gilbert, who brought their experience in children's gaming to the forefront. Despite their promising start, the studio's trajectory was marred by controversy when Day was convicted of fraud in 2004, leading to the company's closure the following year.
