Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara is a single-player action role-playing game with hack'n'slash, beat 'em up, and fighting elements in which players control characters through combat and exploration using a four-button control scheme. In this game, players can choose from a variety of heroes including Cleric, Dwarf, Elf, Fighter, Thief, and Magic-User, with the option for two players to select the same character type thanks to multiple sprite sets, enhancing replayability and strategic choices. It stands out with its complex combat system featuring special moves, dashing and rising attacks for combos, and a Megacrush move that damages multiple enemies at the risk of self-damage, along with a unique inventory management system accessed via the control buttons, adding depth to gameplay.
